Albuquerque, NM - February 6, 2024 - The Duke City Gladiators, Albuquerque's beloved professional indoor football team, are gearing up for an action-packed weekend to foster talent and community engagement. As the countdown to their first game on March 23rd begins, the Gladiators invite athletes to showcase their skills at open tryouts on February 16th and 17th, followed by a free youth football camp on February 18th.
The open tryouts, scheduled from 11 am to 1 pm on February 16th and 17th at Rio Rancho Event Center, present a prime opportunity for aspiring athletes to join the ranks of the Duke City Gladiators. Eager to welcome new talent into their fold, the Gladiators are excited to witness the dedication and skill of potential team members.
"Our open tryouts are a chance for athletes to prove they have what it takes to be part of our team," said Fred Griggs, Head Coach of the Duke City Gladiators. "We're looking for individuals who embody the Gladiator spirit - resilience, determination, and a passion for the game."
Following the open tryouts, the Duke City Gladiators proudly host a free football camp for youth athletes on February 18th. The camp, divided into two sessions, offers children aged 5 to 16 the opportunity to learn new skills and train alongside professional players from the team.
"We believe in nurturing the next generation of athletes," said Head Coach Fredd Griggs. "Our youth camp is not just about football skills; it's about instilling confidence, teamwork, and a love for the game in our young participants."
The first session of the youth camp, designed for 5 to 10 10-year-olds, will run from 11 am to 1 pm, while the second session, catering to 11 to 16-year-olds, will take place from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm. Participants can look forward to hands-on coaching, drills, and fun activities to hone their football abilities.
The Duke City Gladiators are deeply committed to giving back to the community and empowering local youth through sports. The team aims to inspire young athletes to reach their full potential on and off the field by hosting events like open tryouts and youth football camps.
